Sources familiar with the investigation into the Dallas immigration facility shooting identified Wednesday’s alleged attacker as Joshua Jahn, 29.

The shooter fatally shot two detainees and critically wounded another when he opened fire on a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility from a nearby structure, police reported. The injured individual is receiving treatment at the hospital and is in critical condition.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, Jahn fired randomly at the ICE building and also targeted a van in the sally port where the detainees were attacked. The victims were inside an unmarked transport van when they were hit, before Jahn ended his own life at approximately 7 a.m., sources said. Authorities discovered him deceased with a rifle on a nearby rooftop.

An image posted by FBI Director Kash Patel on X revealed what looked like rifle-caliber ammo attached to a clip, with the rounds inscribed with an anti-ICE message.

“The attack on ICE in Dallas signifies another loathsome assault on law enforcement,” he remarked. “The current wave of politically driven violence from leftists needs to come to an end. The environment promoted by Democrats has emboldened radicals to commit acts of violence and destruction. We will not concede.”

Texas Governor Greg Abbott affirmed the state’s support for immigration enforcement officers, stating the assailant’s actions will not deter Texas’s efforts to arrest, detain, and deport illegal immigrants. He pledged to cooperate with ICE and the Dallas Police Department to uncover the motives behind the perpetrator’s actions.

Vice President JD Vance called for an end to “obsessive attacks” on law enforcement, particularly ICE.

“These horrendous killings must serve as a wake-up call to the far left that their rhetoric about ICE has consequences,” Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem wrote on X, while chiding elected officials who demonize immigration authorities.

“Comparing ICE day in and day out to the Nazi Gestapo, the Secret Police, and slave patrols has consequences,” she added. “The men and women of ICE are fathers and mothers, sons and daughters. They get up every morning to try and make our communities safer. Like everyone else, they just want to go home to their families at night.”
