The declaration came as part of a court filing to close Decker’s criminal case.

WASHINGTON, USA — Travis Decker, accused of killing his three daughters near Leavenworth, Washington, this past year, has been reported dead by the U.S. Marshals Service.

The declaration came as part of a court filing Wednesday in the Eastern District of Washington to dismiss Decker’s criminal case and arrest warrant.

“The United States Marshals Service has advised the Defendant TRAVIS CALEB DECKER is deceased,” announced assistant U.S. Attorney Caitlin Baunsgard in a recent document.

The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office mentioned to KING 5 that they are waiting on DNA tests to confirm that remains, suspected to be Decker, match his identity. These remains were discovered in a secluded forested region south of Leavenworth during a team search by numerous agencies last week.

“Although we are awaiting positive identification, initial findings indicate that the remains could belong to Travis Decker,” stated the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office on September 18.

The search for Travis Decker was initiated after he did not return his three daughters to their home on time after a visit allowed by a parenting plan on Friday, May 30. That evening, the Wenatchee Police Department addressed a Civil Complaint made by the girls’ mother.

Further investigation led police to issue an Endangered Missing Person Alert for the Deckers on Saturday, May 31, to alert the public to remain vigilant.

On Monday, June 2, information led the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office to search the Icicle Road area near Leavenworth for the Deckers. Deputies found Decker’s truck near the Rock Island Campground, which is about 17 miles west of Leavenworth. The vehicle was unoccupied.

Law enforcement searched the surrounding area and found the three Decker children dead. The Chelan County medical examiner determined the official cause of death for the girls to be suffocation.
