A California man is behind bars after police say he killed a Fremont pedophile, then claimed that sex offenders “deserve to die.”
According to the Fremont Police Department, 29-year-old Varun Suresh is facing a capital murder charge for the death of David Brimmer, 71.
Just before noon on Thursday, law enforcement was dispatched to the 600 block of Upper Vintners Circle in Fremont due to a conflict involving the suspect and Brimmer.
Brimmer, found with “significant stab wounds,” was pronounced dead at the scene.
During an interview with investigators, Suresh allegedly said he sought out sex offenders purposely because “they hurt children.”
According to court records reviewed by FOX 2, a search through Suresh’s phone uncovered many screenshots featuring names and addresses of sex offenders that were pulled from the Megan’s Law website.
Suresh allegedly claimed he was not acquainted with Brimmer, and had approached his door under the guise of being a “CPA going door-to-door to find new clients.”
Suresh initially made small talk with Brimmer and asked him to confirm his identity, while trying “to appear as non-threatening as possible.”
After shaking hands, Brimmer confirmed his name, according to court documents.

Suresh attempted to push his way into the residence, causing Brimmer to flee. Suresh is said to have pursued him while inquiring if Brimmer “believes in God.”
Brimmer reached a neighbor’s garage and starting pounding on the garage door, then ran into the home and made his way to the kitchen.
Suresh, according to court documents, caught up with Brimmer and, armed with a knife, started stabbing him.
“It’s over, you have to repent,” Suresh reportedly said.

Suresh said a witness inside the residence asked him “not to do this in here.”
The defendant said he thought about stopping the altercation at the uninvolved resident’s request, but decided to go through with the stabbing.
Brimmer managed to escape, but reportedly collapsed outside, likely due to blood loss. Suresh followed him and slashed his neck.
“I just wanted to make sure it was done,” Suresh told investigators, later adding that he “wasn’t planning on getting away with it.”
“I’m hoping that because [Brimmer] a pedophile… like, everyone hates pedophiles… so like, it should be cool. It should be cool,” he said.
Court records indicate that Brimmer was convicted of lewd and lascivious acts with a child in 1995 and released from prison a decade later.
A December 1992 article from the San Francisco Chronicle mentioned Brimmer as a former youth counselor and the lead assistant to the pastor at the “largest fundamentalist Christian church in San Jose.”
Brimmer and another former youth pastor, Pablo Boas, were arrested in 1992 for sexually assaulting four boys.
Suresh remains behind bars without bail.
