A retired Wall Street executive has been taken into custody, accused of enticing numerous women, among them former Playboy models, to experience both sexual and physical attacks within his Central Park penthouse. This location housed a soundproofed area referred to in legal documents as “The Dungeon.”
Howard Rubin, 70, was arrested Friday at his rental home in Fairfield, Connecticut, authorities said.
He pleaded not guilty in a federal court in Brooklyn.
The reports state that Powers was responsible for maintaining the dungeon, ensuring it was cleaned after use, replenishing supplies, and recruiting women. She also organized their travel and dealt with issues arising from their interactions with Rubin.
Rubin and Powers made it a requirement for the women to agree to nondisclosure contracts, ensuring they affirmed they were sober and drug-free at the time of signing, according to prosecutors.
Legal documents reveal that since 2012, Rubin has been the financial backer of all aspects of Powers and her family’s lifestyle. This support included covering the rent for their New York City apartment, paying for her children’s private education, and handling the down payment and mortgage for their house in Texas, where the family relocated in 2020.
Some of the alleged victims sued Rubin and Powers in 2017.
A jury found at trial that only Rubin was liable and awarded the women $USD3.9 million ($5.9 million). He is currently appealing the verdict.
If convicted of all charges, Rubin and Powers each face a sentence of at least 15 years in prison.
