Humberto becomes third consecutive major hurricane to start season

No description found

Focusing on quality over quantity.

The 2025 hurricane season has been below average, but it has still brought forth a few significant storms.

Season-to-date

Humberto emerged as the third hurricane and the third major hurricane of the 2025 season.

This is the first instance since 1935 where the initial three hurricanes of a season all intensified into major hurricanes.

A major hurricane is classified as having at least category three strength.

The first hurricane of the season, Erin achieved category 5 intensity.

Season-to-date

Hurricane Gabrielle reached category 4.

Humberto is also forecast to reach category 4 status.
