DELTONA, Fla. – A 21-year-old man was shot and killed early Monday at a Deltona condominium, according to sheriff’s officials.

The shooting was reported around 1 a.m. on Orchid Woods Court near Perimeter Drive.

According to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office, multiple people reported hearing gunshots and screaming at the condo complex.

Deputies discovered the victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, near the entrance of a second-floor unit. Officials reported that he had succumbed to several gunshot wounds.

The sheriff’s office said the gunman was captured on video from a doorbell camera, and deputies were able to get a “detailed suspect description.”

Approximately 15 minutes afterward, a deputy noticed an individual fitting the description and apprehended them close by. The sheriff’s office also mentioned that a black backpack, found abandoned near a bike trail, is suspected to be the shooter’s possession.

An investigation is ongoing.
