BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WSAV) — Families of the involved teenagers have shared new footage with WSAV, capturing the incident at Hilton Head’s Squiregate Community.
Relatives suggest these clips depict the events that led to the well-known video and confrontation. The video shows the teenagers engaging in a discussion with a person who appears to be the off-duty deputy inside his personal vehicle.
At the end, the deputy exits his truck. He appears not to have the bulletproof vest that he is seen wearing in the original video.
Another newly shared video highlights the moments prior to the deputy’s engagement with the teens in the truck. A neighbor trails the boys on an ATV, inquiring about their residence. The boys respond, “It’s none of your business.”
WSAV continues to gather details as they become available. Due to legal concerns, the teenagers’ families have opted not to provide public comments currently.
The identity of the deputy has not been disclosed by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO). The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) will conduct an investigation into the deputy’s involvement in the incident.
