A father of two, whose body was discovered at an Adelaide workshop, is suspected to have been murdered following a celebration of the AFL grand final with friends over the weekend.
The deceased has been identified as Chris Robertson, a 49-year-old, found dead at a workshop on O’Sullivan Beach Road in Lonsdale, an industrial suburb located in the southern part of the city, yesterday.
He leaves behind two children and five siblings and was from Moana.
Today, police declared his death a major crime and launched a murder investigation.
They believe Robertson was killed in a targeted attack after a post-mortem examination revealed he had been fatally assaulted.
Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke reported that Robertson had been involved in festivities with friends to celebrate the AFL grand final over the weekend, just days prior to the discovery of his body.
“We understand that this celebration moved to several locations,” he said.
Authorities are currently investigating the scene, working to reconstruct his recent movements. They are also reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity to track any vehicles or individuals who might be connected to the case.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have been with Robertson over the weekend, or has any information that could help police, to come forward.
Fielke stated, “We are reaching out for help from those who were celebrating with Chris or anyone who is more broadly acquainted with him to help us understand his recent activities over the past week.”
“Any information, no matter how small, can be critical to us in establishing Chris’ movements and the circumstances which led to his death.”
Police are also appealing for dashcam footage from anyone who may have driven through the area between September 27 and September 30.
