AUGUSTA, Ga. () – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) has partnered with the Police Benevolent Association of Georgia (PBAGA) and the Police Benevolent Foundation to provide support to Deputy Victor Rodriguez, who was severely injured while on duty.

Deputy Rodriguez was shot multiple times just after midnight on October 2nd while responding to an armed robbery. Despite his injuries, he bravely returned fire to protect others. He is currently in stable condition but is facing a prolonged and challenging recovery.

When deputies are hurt on the job, their medical expenses are covered. However, their income is reduced due to workers’ compensation, causing them to lose the overtime and special duty work many depend on to support their families. According to the RCSO, Deputy Rodriguez is a committed law enforcement officer, as well as a husband and the proud father of a young daughter.

Checks may also be made payable to the RCSO Benevolent Fund (memo: Deputy Victor Rodriguez) and delivered to Ms. Anita at the Sheriff’s Office.
