A violent chain of events in Pennsylvania has resulted in one person’s death and three others being injured.

WATE reported a tragic incident on Friday in Robinson Township, where a motel manager was fatally shot, and three others, including a police officer and the suspect, were injured due to a conflict at a motel on the 4200 block of Steubenville Pike.

Stanley West, 38, allegedly shot his “female companion” during an argument in the motel’s parking lot. The woman managed to escape and is currently receiving medical treatment for her injuries.

When the disturbance occurred, motel manager Rakesh Ehagaban, 50, went outside to intervene, at which point West allegedly shot him. Ehagaban was declared dead at the location.

WPXI was told by a man who works at the motel what he saw and heard.

“I went in there, sat down, and I always play with my daughter when I’m done. I put a movie in, and then I heard, ‘pow, pow, pow, pow, pow.’ And I saw my boss lying on the ground,” said Lemel Howell.

West then allegedly escaped in a U-Haul van. According to WATE, Allegheny County Police Superintendent Christopher Kearns stated that Pittsburgh police detectives discovered the vehicle around 2:30 pm in the East Hills neighborhood.

When officers approached the van, West reportedly fired at them, causing police to return fire. Both West and a Pittsburgh police officer were hit. The officer suffered a leg injury and is currently in stable condition.

West is currently in custody while hospitalized in critical condition.

West has been charged with criminal homicide, attempted homicide, and recklessly endangering another person, according to WPXI.

WPXI reported that three officers are currently on administrative leave.

Two Pittsburgh officers and one Allegheny County officer will remain on leave while the Pennsylvania State Police conducts an independent investigation into the officer-involved shooting in East Hills.
