At least five civilians lost their lives as Russia carried out drone, missile, and guided aerial bomb attacks on Ukraine overnight into Sunday. Officials stated that the assault focused on civilian infrastructure.
Moscow sent over 50 ballistic missiles and around 500 drones into nine regions across Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Sunday morning.
In a combined drone and missile attack on Lviv, four individuals were killed, as reported by regional authorities and Ukraine’s emergency service. This historic city in the west is often regarded as a sanctuary away from the conflict and devastation in the east. At least four more people were injured, according to the emergency service.
Two districts were left without electricity, and public transport was halted for a few hours on early Sunday, according to Mayor Andriy Sadovyi. He also noted that a business complex on the outskirts of Lviv caught fire due to the strike.
In Zaporizhzhia, located in the south, a late-night aerial attack resulted in the death of a civilian woman and injuries to nine others, including a 16-year-old girl, as reported by regional Governor Ivan Fedorov. He mentioned that Russia employed drones and guided aerial bombs in the attack.
Fedorov said the strike destroyed residential buildings and left some 73,000 households in Zaporizhzhia and surrounding areas without power.
