SLED investigating fire at Edisto Beach home associated with SC circuit court judge; 3 injured

An inquiry is currently being conducted on Edisto Beach after a fire occurred at a home linked to a circuit court judge on Saturday afternoon.

The fire happened in a gated area off Planters Retreat in Jeremy Cay. Video from a witness showed a large home engulfed in flames.

Details surrounding the incident remain sparse, but News 2 is in the process of verifying information with the Town of Edisto Fire Department.

KC Campbell, public information officer for Colleton County Fire Rescue, said the agency assisted by sending firefighter-paramedics to the scene.

Authorities have reported that three individuals were transported to the Medical University of South Carolina; one via airlift and the other two by ambulance. The severity of their injuries is yet to be determined.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division confirmed to News 2 that it was actively investigating the fire.

Locals informed a News 2 team on the scene that a judge resides in the area. Public property databases associate the location with Diane Goodstein, who is recognized in SC court files as a circuit court judge.
