Donald Trump announced last night that both Israel and Hamas have agreed on the ‘first phase’ of his proposed peace deal, marking a significant advancement toward ending the conflict in Gaza.

On his Truth Social page, Trump stated, ‘This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to a mutually agreed line as the initial steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace.’

The announcement of an agreement brought about jubilant celebrations among Palestinians and the families of Israeli hostages, with many cheering in the streets of Gaza, which has seen over a million people displaced after two years of bombings.

Global leaders, including Sir Keir Starmer, have shown relief at the anticipation of a peace pact, with a ceasefire expected to be implemented today following a meeting of the Israeli government.
