The love story between conservative commentator Charlie Kirk and his wife, Erika Kirk, was not only profoundly significant but also tragically cut short. Their bond, which began in an unexpected manner, was quintessential to their public personas, rooted in mutual faith and collaboration.

How Erika and Charlie Kirk Met: Their Story Unfolded
Erika and Charlie Kirk crossed paths in 2018, but their first encounter wasn’t a typical romantic meeting. Initially a job interview, their meeting quickly transformed into something much richer. They connected at a spot known as Bill’s Burgers (likely referring to Bill’s Bar & Burger) in New York City, where Charlie questioned Erika on topics of philosophy, religion, and politics.
During an engaging discussion, Charlie realized her uniqueness. Recalling the moment to their daughter, he shared, “I was asking all these questions… then I realized Mama was beautiful, intelligent, graceful, and Christ-like, so I said, ‘Forget this job interview, I want to date you.’ I have plenty of friends.” Erika fondly remembered their five-year anniversary in 2023, recounting how Charlie paused and declared, “I’m going to date you.” This pivotal moment marked the beginning of their shared journey.
Their Engagement and Wedding
Their relationship was intentional and purposeful. Charlie proposed to Erika in December 2020, a milestone she celebrated on Instagram with, “When God writes your love story, you get to marry your best friend.” They tied the knot in Scottsdale, Arizona, in May 2021, less than a year later.
Erika and Charlie Growing Their Family
In August 2022, Erika and Charlie embraced parenthood with the birth of their daughter, followed by their son’s arrival in May 2024. Erika often reflected on Charlie’s devotion as both a father and husband, mentioning he would inquire, “How can I serve you better? How can I be a better husband? How can I be a better father?”

A Public Partnership and Teamwork
Their partnership extended beyond their private lives; Erika, a former Miss Arizona USA and businesswoman, often appeared alongside Charlie at public events and on his podcast. Together, they shared insights on marriage and teamwork.
A Tragic Loss and a Continued Legacy
The Kirk family faced tragedy on September 10, 2025, when Charlie was fatally shot during a speaking event at Utah Valley University. Following this heartbreaking event, Erika showed great strength and faith.
At Charlie’s memorial, she publicly forgave the accused shooter, saying, “I forgive him because it is what Christ did. The answer to hate is not hate.”
She also promised to continue Charlie’s work and was named CEO and chair of the board of Turning Point USA in September 2025, carrying forward the movement he created.
