(The Hill) – President Donald Trump will undergo a medical exam on Friday during a visit to Walter Reed Medical Center, the White House said.

“On Friday morning, President Trump is scheduled to visit Walter Reed Medical Center for a planned meeting and to deliver remarks to the troops,” stated White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt in her announcement. “During the visit, President Trump will also undergo his routine annual check-up. He will then return to the White House.”

Leavitt mentioned that Trump is “considering a trip to the Middle East shortly afterwards.” The president had informed reporters that he was thinking about traveling to Egypt on Saturday or Sunday as part of his efforts to finalize a peace deal in Gaza.

While the White House described Friday’s visit as a “routine yearly check-up,” it marks the second instance of Trump having an examination at Walter Reed this year. He last had a routine check-up in April, after which his doctor reported that he was in “excellent health.”

Since then, Trump, who is 79, was revealed to have a vein condition that is common in people over the age of 70.

In July, Leavitt disclosed that tests revealed Trump has chronic venous insufficiency. This condition arises when the veins in the legs face difficulties in sending blood back to the heart, leading to blood pooling, as explained by the Cleveland Clinic.

At that time, the press secretary also mentioned that doctors had attributed the bruising on Trump’s hands to “minor soft tissue damage,” which is often a result of frequent handshaking and regular use of aspirin.
