Cybill Shepherd was the blonde beauty who ruled Hollywood in the 1970s and 1980s.

Her film debut was playing pinup Jacy Farrow in director Peter Bogdanovich’s drama The Last Picture Show (1971). 

The Memphis-born actress also appeared as Kelly in Elaine May’s “The Heartbreak Kid” (1972), Betsy in Martin Scorsese’s “Taxi Driver” (1976), and Nancy in Woody Allen’s “Alice” (1990).

Then came massive TV fame.

Shepherd played Madelyn Hayes on the detective comedy-drama Moonlighting (1985 to 1989) opposite Bruce Willis.

And she got her own show: she played Cybill Sheridan on Cybill (1995 to 1998).

Her more recent TV roles include Phyllis Kroll on “The L Word” (2007–2009), Madeleine Spencer on “Psych” (2008–2013), and Cassie in the television movie “The Client List” (2010).

She is now taking on a new role: performing in a cabaret. “An Evening With CYBILL SHEPHERD: Music, Conversation & Stories” is set to take place on October 17 and 18 at the Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood.

The looker told People she wants to just have ‘fun.’

Shepherd is involved in a new stage production, “An Evening with CYBILL SHEPHERD: Music, Conversation & Stories,” at the Catalina Jazz Club, presented by Chris Isaacson Presents.

The talented performer sings, shares behind-the-scenes footage and tells stories about her career.

‘I like to make the audience laugh, but I like to keep them in touch with me. But I also liked them to [be] enjoying the humor,’ she told the site.

She described the ‘small, curated set list’ as a compilation of her personal favorites. ‘I’ve always loved music throughout my life, so these are songs that naturally fit in,’ she explained, ‘Some selections are from the Cybill show.’

‘I’ve gotten everything out of the way that I’ve wanted to accomplish. I’ve been very, very fortunate like that…. older feels better.’

Her looks were a thing early on. While attending East High School in Memphis, Shepherd won the Miss Teenage Memphis title.

She also represented the city at the 1966 Miss Teenage America pageant at age 16, where she won the congeniality award. The thespian competed at the 1968 ‘Model of the Year’ contest at age 18, resulting in fashion model assignments through high school and afterwards.

Hollywood fame seemed to come easy for the star.

After Last Picture Show she starred in Daisy Miller in 1974.

In 1975, she made At Long Last Love, a film musical directed by Bogdanovich. 

Shepherd returned with good reviews for her supporting work in Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver (1976). 

Next was The Lady Vanishes (1979), a remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s 1938 film. She then was in The Yellow Rose (1983), opposite Sam Elliott. A year later, Shepherd was cast as Maddie Hayes on Moonlighting (1985–1989),

She starred in Chances Are (1989) with Robert Downey Jr. and Ryan O’Neal, then was in Texasville (1990), the sequel to The Last Picture Show (1971), and she appeared in Woody Allen’s Alice (1990) and Eugene Levy’s Once Upon a Crime (1992), as well as several television films.

In 2003, she guest-starred on 8 Simple Rules and she played Martha Stewart in two television films: Martha, Inc.: The Story of Martha Stewart (2003) and Martha: Behind Bars (2005).

From 2007 until it ended, Shepherd appeared on The L Word then she joined the cast of Psych as main character Shawn Spencer’s mother, Madeleine Spencer. She also did Criminal Minds and No Ordinary Family. Shepherd appeared alongside Jennifer Love Hewitt in the 2010 television film The Client List.

In 2017, she played an ex-cop senior in Being Rose. In 2023, Shepherd starred in the Lifetime film How to Murder Your Husband: The Nancy Brophy Story.

Shepherd dated Peter Bogdanovich on the set of The Last Picture Show for eight years.  She then dated David M. Ford, became pregnant, and married. Their daughter, Clementine Ford, was born in 1979. The marriage ended in divorce in 1982. In 1987, Shepherd became pregnant by chiropractor Bruce Oppenheim and married him. They had twins named Ariel and Zachariah Shepherd Oppenheim. The couple divorced in 1990.

In 2012, she became engaged to psychologist Andrei Nikolajevic but in 2015, they called it off.
