Actor and singer Darius McCrary, famous for his role as Eddie Winslow on the popular ’90s sitcom “Family Matters,” was taken into custody by U.S. Border Patrol on October 5, due to an out-of-state warrant, as reported by People and TMZ.
According to court records accessed by both sources, the 49-year-old McCrary is currently detained without bail in a San Diego jail. His representative, Ann Barlow, explained to TMZ that the warrant from Michigan stemmed from McCrary failing to attend a court session regarding unpaid child support.
McCrary has faced similar legal troubles before; he was arrested for not paying child support in both 2015 and 2023. His 2017 divorce from former Harlem Globetrotter Tammy Brawner also led to court disputes, resulting in Brawner obtaining full custody of their daughter, Zoey. McCrary was required to complete programs addressing drug and alcohol issues, as well as participate in a batterer intervention program to have visitation rights, according to People.
Nexstar reached out to McCrary’s representative but did not immediately hear back.
McCrary’s first court date is scheduled for Oct. 15.
