Authorities in Arizona are urgently searching for 28-year-old Matthew Spencer, who vanished during a cross-country drive from Las Vegas to his new residence in Houston.
Matthew last communicated with his family on August 6. He maintains a close relationship with his family, siblings, and particularly his twin sister, Kara, making it unusual for him not to reach out to them.
During the summer, Matthew decided to make a fresh start by relocating from California to Houston, Texas. He is known for his adventurous spirit and willingness to relocate.
This time, he chose to make the journey in his 2006 Hyundai Tucson. Matthew did not plan to complete the approximately 30-hour journey in one go. He intended to stop in Las Vegas to visit his sister Kara, with additional stops in Arizona and New Mexico along the way.
Matthew arrives in Las Vegas on August 1st and stays through August 4, before continuing to Texas.
Matthew plans to split the rest of the 20-hour drive into several days. On August 5th, Matthew’s car is spotted coming into Flagstaff, Arizona.
On August 6, Matthew checked in with Kara, informing her that he had arrived in Cloudcroft, New Mexico. They exchanged text messages until 10:54, with Matthew’s last message mentioning he was ‘driving in the desert.’
By August 7, Matthew failed to respond to his sister’s texts, prompting his family to report him missing after over 12 hours without contact. Authorities discovered footage of Matthew’s silver 2006 Hyundai Tucson entering Flagstaff.
Matthew’s Tucson has not been located
Matthew is 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. He usually has a mustache and wears glasses.
