Enmore carjacking

A young person has come forward just days after an alleged carjacking incident at knifepoint occurred in Sydney’s inner west area.

Jonas, 19, recounted how he became a victim of the purported attack outside his Enmore residence one evening after returning from a gathering.

“And out of nowhere, I see four masked assailants approach my vehicle,” he told Today.

“And, I mean, I think nothing at first.

“It’s a very busy street. And then I see to my right side, them bashing on my window.”

He said the group “screamed” at him to get out of the car.

“I opened the door for them and they pulled me out and I see a knife in my face,” he said.

“And I’m just quite literally, like, petrified to do anything about it. And I just watched them as they drive off.”

Though too “petrified” to react, Jonas noted with some amusement that the alleged attackers drove away with the handbrake still on.

“Honestly, they just seemed like they needed the car more than anything else,” he said.

Jonas mentioned he felt “fortunate” to emerge unscathed, yet he continues to grapple with its effects, especially at home, as the alleged carjacking took place right outside his window.

“Every single step, I can hear every single person who walks by,” he said.

“I think every single one of those people could be another person (who could) bash down my door, you know, attack me or attack my family.

“I feel unsafe in my own home.”

Police on Monday said they had charged three teenage boys over an alleged carjacking and pursuit in Sydney.

It is alleged that a group comprising two 16-year-old boys and one 15-year-old boy took the vehicle while it was parked on an Enmore road after they threatened Jonas with a knife at approximately 2am that morning.

Police spotted the allegedly stolen car at about 1.15pm in Macquarie Fields.

After a pursuit, the car stopped on Aero Road, Ingleburn.

The three teens were arrested and charged.
