A teacher from a Chicago elementary school is facing backlash after allegedly mocking the death of Charlie Kirk, as the school where she is employed has taken down its website amid the controversy.

Lucy Martinez, who teaches at Nathan Hale Elementary School, has been identified as the individual in question. She was reportedly seen making gestures that appeared to ridicule the assassination of Charlie Kirk during an anti-ICE protest.

A video that quickly gained traction online shows a woman, whom social media users have identified as Martinez, making a gesture resembling a gun by pointing her finger at her neck with her thumb raised.

The footage captures her raising and lowering this gesture towards her neck while seemingly mouthing the word “Bang.”

This act seemed to mock the tragic death of 31-year-old Charlie Kirk, a conservative podcaster who was shot fatally in the neck at Utah Valley University in September.

As noted by a social media observer, the person who filmed the incident was inside a truck that had a Charlie Kirk flag displayed on it.

Kirk’s death garnered worldwide attention, particularly for the influencer’s previous controversial statements on gun control and gun violence – which he had been debating a crowd member about when he was shot.

The video, allegedly of Martinez, went viral online, with many outraged by the behavior.

‘Meet Lucy Martinez – an elementary school teacher from Chicago who thought it was funny to mock Charlie Kirk’s death,’ right-wing commentator and co-founder of Students for Trump, Ryan Fournier, wrote on X.

‘This woman teaches children. Lucy is now the perfect face of the “No Kings” movement – a movement that preaches “love” but celebrates death. Evil always exposes itself.’

One user commented on Fournier’s post and said: ‘People with this mentality can’t be teaching children. Imagine if you had a child that had conservative or Charlie Kirk supporting parents and the children were like that too.’

‘Would she hurt them in some way or discriminate against them? Teachers like politicians really should be as neutral as they can unless this is a leftist anti American school and that is what they want the narrative to be,’ they added.

Another fumed: ‘Any teacher that CELEBRATES a school shooter murdering an emissary of peace should NEVER BE A TEACHER!’

Nathan Hale Elementary School, where Martinez allegedly worked as a teacher, also recently shut its website and X account down.

A school under the same name’s Facebook page had received many comments under recent posts calling for Martinez’s firing.

One user wrote in a review for the school: ‘A teacher at this school, Lucy Martinez, is a soulless monster who should not be anywhere near children. She is a danger to them.

‘Mocking the assassination of Charlie Kirk is a sign of a demon is in their ranks. I doubt she is the only one who thinks and acts like her. Run from this “school.”’

The school responded: ‘We do not have an employee at Nathan Hale Elementary School in Schaumburg School District 54 with that name. We are not located in Chicago.’

The school commented multiple times that they had no teacher under the name Lucy Martinez, while more than 60 comments on their latest post continued to call for her firing.

Many other Facebook users, by the name Lucy Martinez, launched posts making clear they were not the woman in the video.

‘THERES a teacher I guess named Lucy Martinez who made an ugly comment publicly and yall are coming in my page saying crazy things that do not relate to me! WRONG LUCY MARTINEZ’ one user wrote.

‘I am not a teacher nor made any public comments about whatever it is you guys are so upset about. Please do your proper research and do not comment on my page lol! Especially the ugly things you guys are saying!’
