Decatur City Manager cites issues with council member as reason for resignation

DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — Questions about the conduct of certain Decatur City Council members resurfaced Monday evening as city officials commenced their search for a new City Manager.

This development follows the sudden resignation of former City Manager Tim Gleason, who announced last month his intention to leave by October 31.

The mayor of Decatur attributed Gleason’s departure to ‘toxic’ actions by Council Member David Horn. During Monday’s meeting, the City Council unanimously decided to appoint Melissa Honas, the current Deputy City Manager, as the interim City Manager.

However, one council member expressed that the council should not find itself in this predicament.
