Multiple Aussie states are set to be hammered by fierce winds, rain and thunderstorms as a low pressure system batters the country’s south-east.

Fierce winds are anticipated to cause power outages and uproot trees across regions of South Australia, Victoria, and New South Wales by tomorrow.

Accompanied by a cold front, this weather system has already swept through South Australia with powerful winds today, moving southeast towards western Victoria.

According to Hines, “Wednesday morning will see the strongest winds in southwest Victoria.”

He noted, “We could experience gusts exceeding 120 km/h, which is quite uncommon for this area.”

Coastal segments stretching from Cape Otway in Victoria to Robe in South Australia are forecasted to endure wind gusts reaching up to 120 km/h to 130 km/h by tomorrow morning.

Authorities are cautioning residents to prepare for potential damage to homes, vehicles, and power infrastructure, as the intense winds pose a risk of toppling trees and breaking branches.

Severe storms and heavy rain are also forecast for northern parts of Tasmania with rainfall totals up to 50 mm in parts of the state.

Conditions across the south-east part of the country are expected to stablise tomorrow evening as the system moves offshore.
