Pics released of woman wanted for abandoning newborn on subway platform in NYC Penn Station

The New York Police Department (NYPD) has unveiled surveillance footage of a woman suspected of leaving a newborn baby girl on a subway platform at Penn Station, located in Midtown Manhattan. This footage was made public on Tuesday as authorities seek assistance in identifying and locating the individual.

According to officials, the woman, who appears to be in her 40s, was seen wearing a red headscarf, pink pants, glasses, and a multi-colored top, which may possibly be a hospital gown. The police are reaching out to the public for help in identifying her whereabouts.

Captured on video, she was observed entering the 34th St.-Penn Station subway stop around 9 a.m. on Monday, carrying the infant wrapped in a blanket.

The woman reportedly left the newborn at the base of a staircase on the downtown No. 1 train platform before leaving the station, as per police reports.

Shortly after, commuters discovered the baby and contacted authorities. Medical personnel transported the newborn, who still had her umbilical cord attached, to Bellevue Hospital. The infant is reported to be in good health and is currently undergoing evaluation.

The NYPD urges anyone with information regarding this case to contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All information provided will remain confidential.
