Authorities in a Chicago suburb are currently delving into serious allegations of sexual assault and abuse that reportedly began at a University of Chicago hospital located in Harvey. These allegations might extend to several other medical facilities in the region, intensifying the scope of the investigation.

According to the Harvey Police Department, the key figure in this investigation is described as a “white male with short black hair, brown eyes, and a connected mustache and beard,” estimated to be between the ages of 37 and 40. The initial incidents reportedly occurred at the University of Chicago Ingalls Memorial Hospital.

Police officials are urging anyone who might have information or could potentially be a victim or witness to come forward. The individual in question is believed to currently or previously hold a position within the healthcare facility or similar medical institutions. It is suggested that he possesses experience in healthcare environments where he engaged with patients and participated in medical operations.

In a further development, a spokesperson for the City of Harvey, as reported by WMAQ, identified the person of interest as a physician’s assistant. The investigation currently involves three reported victims: two patients and one hospital employee.

WFLD reports that the suspect is sought for questioning, although it remains unclear if he has been formally identified. The first report in this case was filed by a patient who was treated in the emergency department in June 2024. This patient alleges that the man, who identified himself as a physician’s assistant, acted inappropriately by making unwanted physical contact and inappropriate comments.

According to WFLD, the person of interest is wanted for questioning, but it wasn’t clear if he had been identified. The station said the first report was filed by a patient who was receiving treatment in the emergency department in June 2024. She said the man identified himself as a physician’s assistant, touched her inappropriately, and made inappropriate comments.

A second report came the following month from a staff member who described a similar incident involving a man with the same description.

It’s not clear why police are only now seeking information.

The hospital said in a statement it was aware of the investigation but declined further comment, saying on that it “will continue to cooperate with Harvey police.”

Harvey Police asked anyone with information to contact the department’s anonymous tip line at 708-713-4899 or email crimetips@cityofharveyil.gov.
