SANFORD, Fla. – A suspect in a murder case that took place earlier this year in Riviera Beach has been apprehended in Sanford, authorities have reported.

According to a statement from the Riviera Beach police, 30-year-old Alphonso Lingo was sought in connection with the fatal shooting of 61-year-old Lorenzo Pugh, which occurred on the morning of August 21.

Officers responded to a terminated 911 call and discovered Pugh inside a residence, where he was declared dead at the scene, police detailed.

Investigations pointed to Lingo as the primary suspect, prompting the issuance of an arrest warrant in September. It was suspected that he had fled to Central Florida, as indicated in the statement.

However, on Wednesday morning, law enforcement officials revealed that Lingo was finally located in Sanford. He was apprehended at the Seminole Gardens Apartments on West 5th Street.

“The relentless efforts of our detectives, alongside the U.S. Marshals Service Task Force, resulted in the capture of this dangerous felon. He is now in custody and will face justice,” stated Police Chief Michael Coleman.

Lingo is held without bond on charges of second-degree murder with a firearm and possession of a firearm/ammunition by a felon, pending extradition to Palm Beach County.
