Yesterday afternoon, concerned residents in Coolangatta reported the troubling actions of a man on Dutton Street to the police.
According to information obtained by 9News, the suspect allegedly approached workers at a nearby construction site, disclosed details of the incident, and then attempted to escape to Upper Coomera.
Authorities discovered the body of a 57-year-old man from Coolangatta, who had suffered stab wounds, in a unit block on the same street.
Shortly after 2 p.m. (AEST), officers apprehended a 27-year-old man from Coolangatta in Upper Coomera.
The suspect faces charges of murder and unlawful use of a motor vehicle and is scheduled to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today.
Police have set up two separate crime scenes, one in Coolangatta and another in Upper Coomera, as part of their ongoing investigation.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam is urged to contact police.
