A Connecticut man found himself in police custody following an alleged road-rage incident that escalated to gunfire in Hartford on Thursday night. The alarming episode unfolded around 8:40 p.m. near the intersection of Park and Washington streets, where officers responded to reports of shots fired, according to a press release from Hartford police on Friday.

Upon their arrival, law enforcement discovered a vehicle riddled with bullet holes, underscoring the seriousness of the confrontation. In a swift response, a description of the suspect’s vehicle was circulated among various agencies, leading members of the Violent Crimes Unit and the Greater Hartford Regional Auto Theft Task Force to locate the vehicle shortly thereafter.

Authorities arrested 30-year-old Lorenzo Dunn without incident. During the arrest, detectives also seized a firearm and narcotics from Dunn’s vehicle, painting a troubling picture of the situation. Further investigations revealed that Dunn had an active arrest warrant for a previous assault involving a firearm.

Following his arrest, Dunn was taken to the Hartford Police Detention Facility. He now faces a slew of charges, including attempted assault, reckless endangerment, and offenses related to both drugs and weapons. Fortunately, police reported that no injuries resulted from the incident.

Dunn — who, according to investigators, had an active arrest warrant for an earlier fun-related assault — was booked into the Hartford Police Detention Facility and charged with attempted assault and reckless endangerment, as well as drug and weapons offenses.

No injuries were reported, police said.

Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact the HPD  tip line at 860-722-TIPS (8477).
