AUGUSTA, Ga. () – U.S. Representative Buddy Carter (R) paid a visit to Augusta on Friday, making a stop at the Manus Bio facility.

During his visit on October 24, 2025, Carter, who serves as a representative for Georgia, explored the expanding biomanufacturing plant situated at 1762 Lovers Lane.

As one of the nation’s leading biomanufacturing sites, the company has significantly contributed to the local economy by creating high-tech employment opportunities. Manus Bio collaborates with federal health agencies to bolster America’s pharmaceutical supply chains, aiming to decrease dependence on imported medicines while fostering job creation within the community.

Carter remarked, “This location was once an abandoned site. Manus not only revitalized the area by restoring previous jobs, but they also emphasize the importance of domestic manufacturing. Considering all the manufacturing activities around Augusta, this region is poised to become one of the most vibrant in Georgia, and potentially, nationally, thanks to the ongoing cybersecurity advancements here.”

Manus Bio now employs over 100 individuals in Augusta, many of whom are former NutraSweet employees, contributing to what industry leaders refer to as the “bioeconomy of the future.”
