SANFORD, Fla. – Relief may soon be in sight for Sanford residents plagued by a persistent odor issue, according to an announcement from the city manager on Wednesday.

City Manager Norton Bonaparte revealed in a statement that the city’s utilities department has enacted measures at the North Water Reclamation Facility aimed at reducing the foul smell.

These measures include ordering a custom-made exhaust fan to replace the faulty one, Bonaparte explained. In the interim, a temporary fan has been set up to provide some relief until the new unit is ready for installation.

Bonaparte indicated that the city anticipates having the new fan operational by the end of November.

“I recognize the inconvenience this issue has caused and appreciate the patience and understanding of those affected,” the statement reads. “Rest assured, resolving this problem is a top priority, and we will keep you updated throughout the process.”
