In a disturbing case of road rage, a Pennsylvania man has been taken into custody following allegations that he shot a woman during a heated encounter in Bucks County on Monday evening.

Authorities have charged 41-year-old Cristopher Corbi with a litany of serious offenses, including attempted murder and aggravated assault. The Newtown Township Police Department announced these charges on Tuesday, adding that Corbi also faces accusations of firing into an occupied vehicle, possessing an instrument of crime, reckless endangerment, evidence tampering, simple assault, and criminal mischief.

The incident unfolded as Kathryn Runner recounted to WPVI, while she was driving along the Newtown Bypass a little after 6:30 p.m. on Monday. She and other motorists began overtaking a slow-moving car. It was at this moment that something caught her eye—“I saw something shiny in the corner of my eye,” Runner described.

As she glanced over, Runner saw the gun being aimed at her, and in a terrifying instant, her car window shattered. “I saw the barrel of the gun, and then my window popped and I saw the hole,” she explained.

Acting quickly, Runner called 911 and attempted to follow the vehicle to capture its license plate number. However, the situation escalated when the suspect suddenly exited the bypass, veering onto another road. “He looked like he was going to turn right, but then he slammed on the brakes, got out of the car, and shot at me two more times,” Runner recalled.

“He looks like he’s going to go right, and then he slammed on the brakes and got out of the car and shot at me two more times,” she said.

One of those shots hit Runner, who was still on the phone with a 911 dispatcher, in the hand.

“I definitely was screaming at the 911 operator that he is shooting at me, and then I had my hand up and I thought I was actually hit here, because I felt my two fingers just go numb,” she said.

Runner said she’s confused by what happened, saying she did nothing to warrant being shot.

“So, and what gets me is, there were a lot of cars that passed him, what made him choose me?” she said.

Corbi was ordered held on a $1 million bail.
