The highly anticipated fourth season of Netflix’s The Witcher has arrived, introducing Liam Hemsworth as the new star, stepping into the shoes of Henry Cavill.
Adapted from Andrzej Sapkowski’s beloved novels, the series began in 2019 with Cavill as the iconic Geralt of Rivia, alongside Anya Chalotra as Yennefer and Freya Allan as Ciri. While Cavill continued his role in the second season in 2021 and the third in 2023, he announced his departure from the series via Instagram in 2022, expressing his best wishes to Hemsworth, who would take over as Geralt in the upcoming season.
The entire fourth season, consisting of eight episodes, was released on Thursday. The season’s storyline teases, “Following the transformative events of the third season, Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri are torn apart by a fierce war and numerous adversaries.
“As they embark on separate journeys with newfound determination, they encounter unexpected allies who are eager to join them. Embracing these newfound companions might be their only chance to reunite once and for all.”
Fans of the series have reason to celebrate beyond this latest release. In April 2024, Netflix not only confirmed the renewal for a fourth season but also announced the green light for the fifth and final installment, ensuring more adventures in the world of The Witcher.
For viewers wondering about the fate of the series now that its fourth season has been released, there’s good news. Not only did Netflix announce the renewal of The Witcher for a fourth season in April of 2024, but the streaming platform also indicated that it had given a green light to the fifth and final season.
According to Netflix, Seasons 4 and 5 of The Witcher feature the adaptations of Sapkowski’s remaining novels — Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow and Lady of the Lake.
