In a tragic turn of events early Sunday morning, nine individuals sustained injuries during a shooting at a house party in an Ohio Airbnb, situated between Cleveland and Akron. Local authorities reported that the incident occurred around 12:15 a.m., approximately 20 miles south of Cleveland.

The nine people included a mix of adults and juveniles who attended the chaotic party in Bath Township, which was promoted on social media, Police Chief Vito Sinopoli said at a press conference.

As of now, no suspects have been identified or apprehended in connection to the incident. The shooting erupted unexpectedly, leaving the local community in Bath Township shaken. “Violence is not commonplace here,” remarked Sinopoli, a local spokesperson. “This serves as a stark reminder that no community is truly immune from such violence, and regrettably, this is not the first time Bath Township has faced such an ordeal.”

Officers responding to the scene were met with chaos as they arrived just minutes after receiving multiple emergency calls. They encountered a scene of panic, with attendees fleeing in various directions while others desperately tried to assist the injured. According to Sinopoli, most of the partygoers, including the perpetrator, had vacated the premises by the time officers arrived.

The specifics surrounding the lead-up to the shooting remain unclear at this time, as authorities work to piece together the events of the evening. The conditions and identities of the victims have not been publicly disclosed yet.

Sinopoli expressed the community’s distress over such a violent incident, stating, “When an incident like this occurs, we’re very upset about it. We are committed to thoroughly investigating this matter and ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

“When an incident like this occurs, we’re very upset about it,” he said. “We’re going to do our very best to find out who’s responsible for this and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.”

Airbnbs and short-term rentals are not permitted under local zoning ordinances in Bath, which has about 10,000 residents. Police noted that in 2017, a teen was wounded in a drive-by shooting outside a different Airbnb rental.
