Following the weekend’s explosion at Harvard Medical School in Boston, authorities are still on the hunt for two individuals who remain at large. As of Monday, police have assured that the campus is once again safe for both students and faculty.

The incident took place in the early hours of Saturday, specifically at 2:45 a.m., within the Goldenson Building. According to an update from Harvard officials released on Sunday, two masked individuals were observed rapidly leaving the scene after the blast occurred in a confined area of the fourth-floor hallway.

Fortunately, the affected section has been thoroughly assessed and cleared, with the university confirming that it is now fully operational. Officials reported that the explosion did not result in any structural damage to the building, ensuring that all laboratories and equipment remain unaffected and intact.

The Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) has verified that there is no lingering threat to public safety, declaring the campus safe for normal activities to resume.

In an effort to capture the suspects, the HUPD released surveillance images depicting one of the individuals involved in the explosion on Saturday, November 1, 2025. The images capture the two suspects, who were disguised with masks and head coverings, as they fled the scene at the time of the blast.

HUPD on Saturday released surveillance photos of two suspects wearing masks and head coverings fleeing the building at the time of the blast.

No one was injured in the explosion, officials have said.

The Boston Fire Department Arson Unit responded and made an initial assessment that the explosion appeared to be intentional, officials previously said, and they believe a single device to be involved.

The Boston Police Department conducted a sweep of the building to check for any additional devices, and none were found.

The university said HUPD will maintain an increased presence on the Longwood campus as the investigation remains active and ongoing.
