MELBOURNE, Fla. – On Monday, a Delta Air Lines flight had to make an unexpected landing at Melbourne Orlando International Airport.
The carrier explained that Flight 305, which was en route from Fort Lauderdale to New York’s JFK Airport, was redirected after reports emerged of a smoky smell in the first-class cabin.
The aircraft, an Airbus A321 with 170 individuals on board, including the crew members, was evacuated without incident.
Delta confirmed that technicians were examining the plane.
“Our priority is always the safety of our passengers and team,” the airline stated. “We regret the inconvenience caused to those whose travel plans have been disrupted.”
All passengers were subsequently “reaccommodated” and completed their journey to JFK Airport, according to Delta.
