Former VP Dick Cheney Passes Away


(CBS NEWS) – CBS News has announced the passing of Dick Cheney, the former Vice President of the United States, at the age of 84.

The Cheney family released a statement confirming the news:

“Richard B. Cheney, who served as the 46th Vice President, passed away on the evening of November 3, 2025, at 84. His devoted wife Lynne, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage, along with their daughters, Liz and Mary, and other family members, were by his side. The former Vice President succumbed to complications arising from pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease.

“Throughout his life, Dick Cheney dedicated himself to public service, holding positions such as White House Chief of Staff, a Congressman for Wyoming, Secretary of Defense, and ultimately, Vice President.

“Dick Cheney was not only a dedicated public servant but also a cherished family figure who instilled values of patriotism, courage, honor, love, kindness, and a passion for fly fishing in his children and grandchildren. We are profoundly thankful for his contributions to our nation and feel incredibly fortunate to have been part of his life and legacy.”
