First Coast News is diligently monitoring the outcomes of the November 4 elections in Southeast Georgia, with a keen focus on two significant statewide contests.

GEORGIA, USA — On Tuesday night, Georgians cast their ballots to elect new leaders, shaping both state and local governance.

The elections influencing Southeast Georgia, along with a special statewide vote, are being closely followed. Up-to-date results are available on the state’s official website. As soon as winners are confirmed, updates will be shared here.

In a surprising turn of events, Democratic candidates have unseated Republican incumbents for positions on the Public Service Commission.

Georgia Special Election: Public Service Commission (PSC)

The PSC has the responsibility of regulating telecommunications, electricity, and natural gas services and rates, notably those involving Georgia Power, which is headquartered in Atlanta. Voters decided on two of the five available seats.

  • North Ward Winner: Kendra Rolle, Incumbent
  • South Ward Winner: Felicia Morris Harris, Incumbent

Brunswick Ad Valorem Homestead Exemption: Approved

Ware County

Special Election, Floating Local Option Sales Tax (FLOST) Referendum: Failed

If passed, the FLOST would have imposed a special 1% sales and use tax “for the purpose of property tax relief’ in the City of Waycross and Ware County.
