Aiken Co. man stabs step-father, charged with Murder


AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. — An individual from Aiken County has been arrested following accusations of attacking his mother and stepfather with a knife.

According to reports, on November 2nd, deputies from Aiken County responded to an emergency call reporting a stabbing incident on John Scott Road.

Upon their arrival, officers encountered the alleged perpetrator, Dale Carlin. After detaining Carlin, they entered the residence to assess the situation.

Inside, authorities discovered two individuals suffering from stab wounds. Emergency medical services promptly arrived to transport the injured victims to a nearby hospital.

Tragically, one of the victims, identified as Carlin’s stepfather, 73-year-old Mark Douglas Burch, succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday morning.

The other victim, Carlin’s mother, Christine Ehler Burch, is currently being treated at a local medical facility for her injuries.

Carlin is charged with 1 count of Murder, 1 Count of Attempted Murder and 2 counts of Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime.

He remains in the Aiken County Jail.
