A harrowing incident unfolded at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport when a UPS plane, filled with fuel, crashed, erupting into a colossal and lethal fireball. This alarming event was captured in a dramatic video that quickly circulated, highlighting the severity of the situation on Tuesday.

Filmed from a vehicle on a nearby road, the footage reveals a massive column of black and gray smoke spiraling into the sky, visible from miles away. The driver, clearly startled, can be heard exclaiming in disbelief as the flames engulf the remnants of the aircraft on the runway, with another plane ominously present in the foreground.

The video dramatically captures the moment when the UPS aircraft, during its takeoff from the Louisville airport in Kentucky, burst into flames. The fiery explosion expanded swiftly, sending shockwaves through the air as the distant wail of emergency sirens began to echo.

Flames rise from the site of a UPS cargo plane crash.

The site of the crash was marked by an intense blaze, as captured in images showing fire and smoke billowing at the location near the airport. The cargo plane, fully loaded with fuel, met its tragic fate shortly after lifting off, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

The fireball expands rapidly, rippling through the air as emergency sirens wail faintly in the distance.

The person filming also shouts in terror as the video captures the scale of the disaster before news of the crash sent shock through the community.

According to the FAA, the plane crashed around 5:15 p.m. during takeoff, bound for Honolulu.

The crash killed at least seven people and injured at least 11 others.

“UPS Flight 2976, carrying three crew members, crashed at about 5:14 p.m. ET onto the roof of the Kentucky Petroleum Recycling building after departing from SDF,” Gov. Andy Beshear said during a news conference Tuesday evening.

“At least two employees at nearby business Grade A Auto Parts are unaccounted for,” Beshear added, calling the incident “catastrophic.”

Both the FAA and NTSB are investigating the cause of the accident.

Authorities issued a shelter-in-place order for nearby neighborhoods due to the heavy smoke and debris.

Fox News Digital has reached out to the Louisville Metro Police Department and Louisville Fire Department for comment.
