WASHINGTON COUNTY, Tenn. — A resident of Johnson City has been taken into custody following allegations of shooting a woman in the foot on Tuesday evening.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) issued a statement revealing that 76-year-old Tony L. Slagle, from Johnson City, faces charges of aggravated assault related to the incident on Bill Bennett Road.

Authorities were dispatched to the 500 block of Roack House Road shortly after 11 p.m. in response to a shooting that reportedly occurred around 9 p.m.

“Upon arrival, deputies found the victim, who claimed that Slagle shot her in the left foot at a residence on Bill Bennett Road,” according to the WCSO report. “She further stated that Slagle fired additional shots at her but did not hit her.”

Slagle allegedly confessed to shooting the woman in the foot and admitted to discharging several other rounds as she exited the property.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where she is receiving medical care for her injuries.

He was taken to the Washington County Detention Center. As of Wednesday, Slagle is being held on a $75,000 bond.
