WHITESTOWN, Ind. (WXIN) – A tragic case of mistaken identity led to a woman’s death in an Indiana neighborhood, as reported by the Whitestown police.
Authorities from the Whitestown Metropolitan Police Department responded to a shooting early Wednesday morning, discovering a woman deceased on a home’s porch. Evidence suggested that a gunshot had been fired from within the residence, as a bullet hole was visible in the front door.
Initially, the incident was reported as a home invasion. However, further investigation led the WMPD to clarify in a statement that “the facts gathered do not support that a residential entry occurred.” It was determined that the woman was part of a cleaning crew that mistakenly arrived at the wrong address.
