The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office has revealed that Stephanie Holt, aged 31, faces charges including failing to stop at the scene of an accident, which led to a fatality, and committing a felony with a motor vehicle. Holt is believed to have been driving the car that allegedly struck 76-year-old Mary Hulswit, who was discovered deceased at the base of her driveway in St. Clair Shores this past Saturday.

According to the prosecution, authorities responded to reports of an unresponsive woman, later identified as Hulswit, found at the end of a driveway. Her injuries were described as “consistent with being hit by a vehicle,” and she was pronounced dead at the location.

Investigators have taken Holt into custody, asserting that she “hit the victim while reversing out of her driveway.” Specific details surrounding Holt’s arrest have not been disclosed.

During her court appearance on Tuesday in Michigan’s 40th District Court, Holt’s bail was determined at $100,000 cash with a 10% surety bond requirement. If she secures bail, she must comply with wearing a GPS tracking device and is prohibited from returning to the scene of the alleged incident. As of Wednesday, Holt remains in custody.

On Tuesday, Holt was in Michigan’s 40th District Court for her arraignment, where her bail was set at $100,000 cash with a 10% surety bond. If she posts bail, she is to wear a GPS device and stay away from the scene of the alleged crime. As of Wednesday, Holt was still in custody.

Holt is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 14. She has pleaded not guilty to the charges against her.

Hulswit, a great-grandmother to one child, left behind a husband of 55 years, several siblings, two children, and three grandchildren.
