Breaking: Massive Vehicle Explosion Rocks Bronx, Injures 7 Firefighters – What Caused It?

Bronx Vehicle Explosion Injures 7 Firefighters: Investigation Underway to Uncover Cause

An enormous explosion, believed to have originated from a vehicle, shook the Bronx in New York City on Wednesday evening. The blast resulted in injuries to at least seven firefighters, with several being hospitalized, including some with severe burns. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the explosion.

The magnitude of the explosion has raised numerous questions. The incident was captured on video, with the explosion occurring at the seven-second mark.

Witnesses described hearing a powerful blast that shook the area. The exact number of injuries remains unclear, and officials are still working to determine what caused the explosion. This is a developing situation.

The conflagration lit up the night:

“There was a lot of garbage and debris on the sidewalk that was on fire. There were a couple of cars on fire.
And shortly after we arrived on the scene, there was some sort of explosion, a large fireball,” Chief of Department John Esposito said at a news conference late Wednesday.

Although several firefighters experienced serious injuries, luckily, there are no deaths reported at this hour.

Three firefighters were admitted to Jacobi Hospital with severe burns while the other four had minor injuries.

Five of them sustained burns to their hands and faces, officials added.

“The burns are considered serious, but not life-threatening,” said Esposito, who added the firefighters are “awake, alert and speaking.”

Sheldon Temperman, a doctor at Jacobi Hospital, noted he was “worried” but expects the first responders to recover from their injuries.

Because of the size of the blast, questions are bound to be asked, but authorities have not revealed whether they think the detonation was a purposeful act or just sort of some bizarre accident. Although the fire was brought under control by 8:17 p.m. ET, investigations by a hazmat company, the Bureau of Fire Investigation, and the Bureau of Fire Prevention are all commencing.

This is breaking news, and it sure looks like a story where more information will soon be forthcoming. RedState will keep you updated on any developments. At this early stage in the investigation, it would be inappropriate to speculate, but I do think it’s safe to say that this appears to be an unusually large blast for a car fire.

The FDNY tweet continued:

“The explosion injured seven firefighters, five of them with burns to the hands and the face. Three of them are being admitted. The burns are considered serious, but non-life threatening. Our firefighters are awake, alert and speaking, but they have some serious burns, and we’ll be praying for them. With quick action by our Emergency Medical Service, they were transported to Jacobi Hospital, where they were given great care by Jacobi Hospital emergency personnel in the trauma and burn center,” said Chief of Department John Esposito.

FDNY Fire Marshals are working to determine the cause of the fire.
