EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ga. — The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office (ECSO) has been granted $86,533 from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) in Atlanta to boost High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) efforts.

Allen Poole, who directs the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, emphasized the importance of enforcing and educating traffic laws, stating, “Crash data highlights that enforcement and education are among the most effective strategies to decrease accidents and prevent fatalities and serious injuries on our roads. Every life saved is a family spared from the heartache of losing a loved one in a preventable traffic accident.”

Effingham County Sheriff Jimmy McDuffie expressed gratitude for the funding, saying, “These grant funds for traffic enforcement allow us to enhance public safety by reducing risky driving behaviors and making our roads safer for everyone. With this support, we can allocate more resources and technology to tackle pressing traffic issues and ultimately save lives.”
