SAVANNAH, Ga. () – Today marks the last warm spell of the week, with a chilling change expected by Monday night. Currently, we find ourselves on the warmer, humid side of an approaching cold front, with afternoon temperatures anticipated to reach the low 80s amidst a blend of sunshine and clouds. As we progress into the afternoon, there’s a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms as the cold front advances. Some of these storms could be intense, potentially bringing strong winds and isolated hail.

As the evening unfolds and the cold front sweeps through, temperatures will take a sharp dive overnight, plummeting into the lower 40s. Tuesday promises a much cooler day, with highs peaking only in the low to mid 50s under clear skies as high pressure takes over. The real chill sets in by Tuesday night, with temperatures expected to fall below freezing, dipping into the upper 20s and lower 30s.

Remember the Four Ps for protection:

  • People: Dress warm, check on others, limit time outside
  • Pets: Bring them inside, provide shelter, check on their paws
  • Pipes: Insulate pipes, let faucets drip, open cabinet doors
  • Plants: Cover outdoor plants, bring sensitive plants inside

Tuesday will continue to be brisk, with highs lingering in the low 50s and another potential freeze come Tuesday night. By Wednesday, temperatures will start to climb into the mid-60s, and by Thursday, we’ll see highs rebounding to the lower 70s. Despite the daily warming trend, nighttime lows will remain cool, staying in the 40s for the remainder of the week.
