A tragic accident unfolded on Friday morning in Bali, where a minibus carrying Chinese tourists lost control and crashed, resulting in the deaths of five passengers and injuries to eight others. This incident occurred as the vehicle navigated the island’s challenging terrain, traveling from the southern region to the north.

The unfortunate event took place on a winding, downhill road, and according to Ida Bagus Widwan Sutadi, the police chief of Buleleng regency, the driver was unable to maintain control. The minibus swerved off the road and plowed into a garden, ultimately colliding with a tree. Sutadi explained in a statement that the crash was due to the driver’s insufficient caution while maneuvering the turn and descending the slope.

At the time of the accident, the national road in the Padangbulia village was reported to be dry, ruling out weather as a contributing factor. The eight injured passengers received medical attention at two local hospitals, as the community grapples with the aftermath of this devastating event.

“Due to the driver’s lack of caution when turning and descending, he veered off the asphalt road and into a community garden, causing a traffic accident,” Sutadi said in the statement.

The national road in the Padangbulia village area was dry at the time of the crash.

The eight other passengers who were reported injured were treated at two hospitals.

The Indonesian driver, who did not need hospital treatment, has been arrested.

Road accidents are common in Indonesia because of poor safety standards and infrastructure.
