Kissimmee Resident Apprehended Following Armed Incident at Local Business

Staff Report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Authorities have taken Joan Seltsikas, a 51-year-old resident of Kissimmee, into custody following an incident where he allegedly brandished a firearm after being denied money at a local establishment.

The event unfolded on November 12 when an officer from the Gainesville Police Department was dispatched to Studio Skyn located at 1410 NW 13th Street. According to an employee, Seltsikas entered the premises requesting money. Upon refusal, he began to shout and forced his way into the business. Despite repeated pleas for him to leave, Seltsikas lifted his shirt to reveal a handgun tucked in his waistband. Fearing for his life, the employee quickly closed the door and contacted 911.

Following the altercation, Seltsikas left the scene and was later spotted at a CVS nearby. Upon his arrest, officers reportedly discovered a black-handled BB gun in his waistband.

Per the arrest report, Seltsikas holds a Florida driver’s license and Social Security number, but his passport identifies him as a Cuban citizen.

He faces charges of aggravated assault with the intention of committing a felony. Though he has no prior criminal record, Judge Susan Miller-Jones has set his bail at $200,000 and mandated a mental health evaluation.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
