New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd is in a critical state following an early morning shooting in Manhattan.

According to ABC 7, police officers responded to reports of gunfire around 2 a.m. on Sunday and discovered 29-year-old Boyd with a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

The incident reportedly took place outside the Sei Less restaurant, as noted by the New York Post. A dispute escalated into violence, resulting in Boyd’s injury. He is currently receiving treatment at Bellevue Hospital, where his condition remains critical.

In response to the unfolding situation, a representative for the Jets stated, “We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time.”

This incident comes against the backdrop of New York’s stringent gun control measures.
