A Perth man alleges he was assaulted with a “stun gun” in a Facebook Marketplace sale that turned into chaos in city’s north-east.

Bevan recounted a troubling incident involving his son’s e-scooter sale, which took an unexpected turn for the worse on Monday afternoon when he received counterfeit cash.

Authorities reported that a 28-year-old individual, posing as a buyer, attempted to start the scooter and flee with it.

“I couldn’t just stand by and let him leave with the scooter,” Bevan, 66, shared with 9News.

Surveillance footage revealed the arrival of three men at Bevan’s residence in the Vines shortly after 3:30 p.m.

In exchange for the scooter, his 14-year-old son was given a bag supposedly containing money.

Bevan stated that upon confronting the would-be buyer with, “Mate, this is fake money, we’re not going to accept it,” the man responded aggressively.

The father said they got into a scuffle and alleged the would-be buyer pulled out a stun gun, Tasering him on the hand and chin.

“That’s where I actually hit the Taser at one point there,” Bevan said, showing apparent wounds on his hands.

“But a lot of times I, you know, I blocked it,” Bevan said.

Police were in the area and stopped to help as the alleged thief dropped the scooter and jumped fences.

Police said the man was hiding in an elderly woman’s garage shortly after taking off on foot again to a nearby street.

“There was just a terrible commotion. You could just hear outside a lot of screaming and angst going on,” neighbour James Evans said.

“And it was just chaos out here.”

Police arrested a man and an ambulance was called when he suffered a medical episode.

The 28-year-old, who was already on a curfew over other alleged offences, was charged with offences including aggravated home burglary and attempted armed robbery.

He remained behind bars last night.

Bevan had a message for where Marketplace sellers should meet their buyers.

“Anywhere public, even meet them at the bloody Ellenbrook police station and sell it to them there, anywhere but your own house 100 per cent,” he said.
