New Jersey couple wins $3M scratch-off prize months after million-dollar win

A couple in New Jersey is experiencing a remarkable stroke of luck, having recently secured a $3 million prize from a scratch-off ticket, just a few months after winning $1 million. Their incredible fortune has left many in awe.

This fortunate pair, who are parents to two children and are expecting a third, purchased their winning $3 million ticket at the Fischer Bay Exxon located in Toms River, New Jersey. This win comes on the heels of their April triumph, where they claimed a $1 million prize from the “Ultimate Spectacular” scratch-off game.

The odds of such a lucky streak are astronomical. New Jersey Lottery officials estimate the probability of winning both jackpots at approximately one in two trillion. To put it in perspective, an individual is over a million times more likely to be struck by a meteorite than to achieve such a feat.

For this couple, playing scratch-off tickets is a favorite pastime, particularly given the demands of raising their young family, which includes a five-year-old and an 11-month-old. It provides them with a little excitement and relaxation amid their busy lives.

“With our kids, we can’t really get out of the house,” the husband explained. “So at the beginning of the month, we buy some scratch-off tickets. After the kids go to bed, we scratch a few off. We turn it into a bit of a competition to see who can win the most. We always seem to break even at the very least.”

“With our kids, we can’t really get out of the house,” the husband said. “So at the beginning of the month, we get some (Scratch-Off) tickets. When the kids go to bed, we scratch a few off. We like to make it a bit of a competition–who can win the most. It seems we at least always break even.”

The couple celebrated after their first big win in April.

“Maybe we celebrated a bit too much,” the wife said, patting her belly.

She’s currently five-months pregnant.

“I’ve always said that you only need one ticket to win big,” New Jersey Lottery Director James Carey said. “But I guess, in this case two tickets certainly didn’t hurt! This is just pure blind luck.”
