In a bid to aid the ongoing search efforts, the boyfriend of a missing Utah woman, Danielle Staley, has volunteered to undergo a polygraph test. Staley, aged 35, vanished on November 7 near Rio Del Mar State Beach, and authorities are concerned that foul play might be involved.
As previously highlighted by CrimeOnline, Staley was last spotted around 11:30 p.m. that evening. Santa Cruz County deputies have expressed concerns about her safety, citing potential risks to her well-being.
Her boyfriend, 62-year-old Alx Nunez, has publicly stated his innocence and commitment to assisting in locating her. Speaking to KSBW Action News 8, Nunez acknowledged the scrutiny he faces as Staley’s partner but emphasized his focus on her safe return.
“Absolutely not. Absolutely not. One hundred percent. God as my witness, I have nothing to do with it,” Nunez said.
“People often suspect the partner first,” Nunez remarked. “But my priority is to help find her and bring her home.”
Nunez reported Staley missing the day following her attendance at a bonfire on Aptos Beach. According to police reports and KRON 4, her personal belongings were discovered abandoned at the scene.
“I noticed her absence when I woke up,” Nunez recalled, expressing his ongoing concern and determination to find Staley.
“There’s cameras there, there’s a whole private subdivision there that is nothing but cameras, and there has to be some video surveillance of something, cars going in and out at that particular time between about 11 o’clock and about six in the morning.”
Nunez said that he’s speaking out due to the rumors swirling on social media. He also reportedly claimed Staley may have relapsed with drug use.
Police have not named Nunez a suspect in Staley’s disappearance, and he is cooperating with the investigation, ABC 7 reports.
Meanwhile, police are asking for security footage taken from Beach Drive, Rio Del Mar Boulevard, or the Esplanade between November 5 and 7.
Staley is described as a white female who stands 5 feet, 6 inches tall, and weighs 120 pounds, with blond hair. She was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and leopard-print leggings.
Anyone with information regarding Staley’s whereabouts is urged to Santa Cruz County police at 831-471-1121.
